Music Ministry Musician sings with Andrea Bocelli!

Music Ministry News

As we continue to evolve, growing our ministry participation with new voices, new instrumentalists, and plenty of beautiful new music, we are excited to continue moving toward putting the music in directly into your hands—in several ways! In the coming weeks, I encourage all to download the Good Shepherd Catholic Parish app for your smart devices, and very soon a new icon will be loaded onto the app: MUSIC! More to come on this topic soon!

This weekend our men and women’s choirs appear again, singing beautiful arrangements of music celebrating the Nativity of St. John the Baptist. The men’s four-part choir will sing at 8am at St. Mary’s and at 10am at Holy Family, while the women’s four-part choir will sing at 10am and noon masses at St. Charles.

MUSICIAN SPOTLIGHT:

Michael McFadden is a member of our Core Choir which sings primarily at 8am at St. Mary’s. This week, he requested to take some time off from our regular rehearsals for an important opportunity: he was selected to perform in a choir with Andrea Bocelli June 20th and 21st at Hollywood Bowl and the Valley View Casino Center. What an amazing opportunity, and well-deserved recognition for Michael’s talents.

Michael is a 19-year-old vocal performance major attending California State University Fullerton. He has joined our choir during his summer break. He graduated from Redwood High School in 2017 where he was heavily involved with the choral and drama programs, performing with choirs and in musicals for Redwood and Tulare County Office of Education. Michael has been studying with Dr. Mark Goodrich, the head of CSU Fullerton’s vocal area. He enjoys performing in musical theatre and opera theatre and plans to pursue a career in them.

Get Involved

We are still in need of additional accompanists who are proficient at piano and/or organ. Accompanists should have the ability to read music well, learn music quickly, and/or sightread proficiently. This opportunity may include multiple openings, and persons of all ages are welcome to apply. (Developing music skills as an accompanist is an ideal developmental experience for a young pianist) Please contact our parish music director Trent Barry via text at (559) 367-3668 or via email at trentsbarry@gmail.com if you are interested in auditioning or have recommendations.
