Congratulations and thank you are due to Connie and Jess Hernandez who have served as an inspiration to so many as they led our Parish's detention ministry for 27 years! The two are now retiring from the ministry in June and encouraging others to take on this important work.
Mr & Mrs Hernandez, active parishioners at St. Thomas Church in Goshen, were initially unsure of what to expect when they were approached of the need to serve those in jails and intimidated by the harshness of the facilities.
However, the prison ministry representative encouraged them with a quote from John 1:39 "Just come and you will see."
With the Hernandez' 'retiring' from the Ministry, there are now only 2 parishioners remaining to visit inmates at Tulare County Jail Bob Wiley Facility Youth Detention Center
