Youth Ministry Internship 

Pay: $15.50/ hr. 

Weekly Schedule: Flexible hours; some weekday evenings and Sundays; up to 40 hours per week 

Internship Term:  One-year term from August 1st through July 31st 

Job Description: 

Our growing department of catechesis and evangelization seeks to bring young adults from the parish community into various ministry leadership roles through an internship opportunity. The Youth Ministry Intern will play a key role in supporting our ministries for children, youth, and young adults. The ideal candidate is a Catholic young adult who loves Jesus, and His Church, and desires to share the Gospel with others. Someone qualified as an Intern has experience in parish or youth ministry, leadership, organization, interpersonal communication, and relational skills. The Youth Ministry Intern will support an expanding ministry, interact with volunteer team members, and serve as a mentor and role model for the children, youth, and young adults they encounter. In addition to directly coordinating and assisting with various parish youth programs, the Youth Ministry Intern’s main task is evangelization and discipleship, bringing young people to an encounter with Jesus Christ and encouraging involvement in the parish community. Specific duties and responsibilities may include: 

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the children’s youth ministry program for grades three through five 

  • Serve as a core team member for the high school youth ministry, young adult ministry, and high school Confirmation programs 

  • In collaboration with the Director, plan and execute talks, retreats, events, and trips for the youth ministry and young adult programs 

  • Maintain a professional and inviting environment for volunteers and students 

  • Make phone calls, answer phone calls, and transfer callers as appropriate for the various programs involved in children’s, youth, and young adult ministries.  

  • Manage schedules and record minutes for meetings, workshops, retreats, and classes 

  • Submit work orders and schedule repairs and maintenance for general office spaces and equipment for the religious education office 

  • Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence, including FlockNote messages, emails, faxes, mail, and packages 

  • Collect, organize, and monitor records and files for children’s, youth, and young adult ministries. This consists of but is not limited to: 

    • program paperwork 

    • registrations  

    • diocesan forms  

    • rosters/sign-in forms  

    • certificates   

  • Collaborate with the department Director, program leaders, and parish communications director to create promotional materials and program awareness 

  • Assist in creating and posting social media content for youth and young adult ministries 

  • Participates in the Intern formation program 

  • Carries out other duties as assigned by the department Director

  • Must be an active member in the parish young adult ministry 

  • Must have volunteer experience in children’s faith formation, youth ministry, and/or young adult ministry 

  • Knowledgeable about the Catholic faith

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills 

  • Great customer service and interpersonal skills

  • Will occasionally enlist assistance in lifting larger objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
