To the Faithful of the Diocese of Fresno and Community Members,

The passage of Prop 1 will ultimately harm women, children and families in need. I ask that you not only pray for them but also continue to help them as we enter this new and turbulent time in our state history. As Catholics and men and women of faith, we have to continue to offer women the support they need to choose life.

Please also pray for our Governor and all politicians who advocate for abortion at great peril to their souls, that they may have a conversion of heart and faith, and that they too choose life.

Although the passage of Prop 1 is an egregious event, the events leading up to the vote were an accumulative beacon of light. Not only for the Catholic church in California but also for people of faith in California. In a time when there is so much to be divided about, we came together to defend life. My sincere gratitude and applause to all of the organizers, Clergy, Parish Leaders, Rally Participants, Prayer groups, Information booth setups, Voter Registrars and so many more. I hope that we as Catholics and people of God can continue to implement that same spirit, collaboration and faith for other great causes.

Lastly, I want to thank the California Catholic Conference for continuing to be the voice for me and my brother Bishops and Catholics throughout the state, in California's Public Policy arena. Their efforts campaigning for No on Prop 1 were valiant.
